Hi, I’m Adam Stone. Welcome to my home on the World Wide Web.
It’s a personal website, written by me. I built my first homepage in 1995, and even though I went without one for many years, I believe it’s more important than ever for active participants in online spaces to have a point of presence that’s not controlled by a social network or other platform. If you don’t have one, you should make one, too.
I’ve worked on technology for most of my career, creating software to help make people’s lives better and happier for well over two decades. I also spent a little time helping non-profits and philanthropies use their resources more effectively to make the world a better place, but I missed technology and came back. I still believe that, when created with a humanist design philosophy and used responsibly, technology can be a positive force in the lives of individuals, the work of organizations, and society as a whole.
I maintain a professional home page at https://adam-stone.com
More importantly (to me, at least), I am a husband and dad. I currently live in southern California, but I grew up in Rhode Island and miss Del’s in the summer.
I consider myself a lifelong learner with eclectic interests. Even though I no longer work as a professional engineer, I still write code from time to time. I’m interested in the way organizations of all kinds work, as well as the ways technology shapes organizations and facilitates their development.
I also love to play and think about games, and my tastes are quite broad. I started playing video games in the early 80s when my parents brought home an Atari 400. I have been playing tabletop games for just as long, and these days, I am an active player of hobby board games.
