Now

This page reflects things I’m doing, thinking about, enjoying, or otherwise engaged with. Last updated: 17 December 2025

Working

  • I accepted a job offer to start a new full time role in January! I probably won’t post much about that here, though I’ll be updating my professional site after my start date. I expect that even with a full-time workload, I’ll be able to continue posting here.

Coding

  • I finished Advent of Code on December 12 and am working on a post describing my experience this year.

Reading

I’m taking a little breather from nonfiction, so rather than having two books in progress, I’ve got one I’m actively reading and another that’s waiting in the wings.

  • Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell
  • On deck: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson

Watching

  • The American Revolution: I’m one episode into the new historical series from Ken Burns on the revolutionary period. It’s hard to believe that the Civil War series came out 35 years ago, and it’s even more amazing that if you had told me then that Burns would follow up (eventually) that series with this one, I could have guessed more or less the way it would look and sound.

Playing

  • I am starting to mull over a year-in-boardgames post in which I’ll look back on the games I learned and played this year. There are still a couple of weeks of gaming left in 2025, but I also know at this point the games that hit the table most and the ones that stand out most in my mind, barring a real dark horse arriving in the dwindling days of the year.

Building

  • I am working on a learning project to teach myself the Godot game engine. It’s been a long process, but after many months, I expect to wrap it up and release it soon.
  • I’m also experimenting with a few different technologies, using them to build some web toys and other amusements. None of these have turned into bigger projects yet, but some seem promising.
